IT Services and Facilities As a student at NNC you automatically receive the following: • Network account 1. Network account All enrolled learners have their own student account, which allows you to use the college computers and access useful services. The logon to your account consists of 2 elements; the username and the password. The username is your Learner ID number that you are allocated during enrolment. This is made up of the first 3 letters of your surname followed by 8 numbers. The letters must be entered in capital letters. For example: SMI01234567 = An example username. The password for your accounts is randomly generated and printed on your enrolment form. This consists of 6 letters and 2 numbers. For example: ABCDEF12 = An example password
2. Remote Access If you have an Internet connection away from College you can use the Remote login to access your College documents as well as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, Excel, and Access, etc. • Go to www.nnc.ac.uk
3. Email Your email account is created from your computer login username and the college domain name, @nnc.ac.uk, e.g. ABC12345678@nnc.ac.uk To access your account: In College click on the Outlook Web Access icon on your desktop. Select the statement “Continue to website – not recommended”. Outside College select the link “College Email Login” on the left handside of the College website pages. If prompted, login to your email account using your computer username and password.
4. Blackboard Blackboard is the College Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) used as part of your course as a resource for hosting learning materials such as assignments, tests, guides and other related files. Your tutor may have given you access to the resources used on your course. If not, you may still benefit from using Blackboard by accessing the library resources and student union information located within it. To access your account: In College click on the Blackboard icon on your desktop or type ‘freckles’ into Internet Explorer’s address bar. Outside College select the link “Blackboard Login” on the left handside of the College website pages. When prompted, log in using your College computer username and password.
