About Us

We aim to create a supportive environment that encourages all learners to reach their full potential. Our Learning Resource Centre (LRC) provides library and computing support to everyone at College and a working collection of resources to support and supplement your current and potential studies, including:

  • A comprehensive book stock for both loan and reference use
  • Journals, magazines and a selection of daily and weekly newspapers
  • A collection of videos, DVD's and CD's
  • Talking Books
  • Computers
  • Internet and email facilities
  • Virtual learning environment

We also subscribe to a range of e-resources that you can access both at college and from home. This collection includes:

  • E-books, e-journals and e-newspapers
  • Company and industry information
  • Health and safety data and legislation
  • Key reference information
  • Social issues
  • Subject specific resources

Library Services

To ensure you have access to the materials and resources that you need during your course of study we also offer the loan of items from other libraries. Our staff are able to provide support and guidance to help you find the information you need. Students may borrow our resources on production of a valid ID Card, available from the LRC.

 

IT Services

All our PCs offer Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Publisher to help you complete your assignments. You may also use these PCs to access the Internet, your email account, and Blackboard – the college virtual learning environment

 

Additional Services

The LRC offers free black and white printing facilities and access to both a black and white and colour photocopier. There are study areas for groups and for those who wish to work individually, as well as a Silent Study room.

 

Specialist Services

All our students are important to us and to ensure we meet your specific needs we offer a range of specialist services including:

Dyslexia/Dyspraxia Support – If you are eligible for dyslexia or dyspraxic support you will be entitled to longer loan periods when borrowing our resources.

Specialist Software – If you have specific needs we are able to obtain specialist software to support you in your studies.

DAISY Player – Our DAISY Player is compatible with Talking Books, which we are able to obtain from the RNIB.

Hearing Loop – The LRC has a counter loop system installed. To make use of this facility please switch your hearing aid to the ‘T’ position.

Braille Embosser – We are able to convert documents into Braille. Please let us know if you wish to make use of this service.

8.30am – 5.00pm Monday to Thursday
8.30am – 4.30pm Friday

 

Visitor Access

If you are not a student at the college but are interested in accessing our resources for research purposes please contact the LRC to discuss your requirements. Access is usually permitted to the books, journals and magazines for reference but you will not be able to borrow any items. The IT facilities and online resources are only available to enrolled North Nottinghamshire College students.
