About US
North Nottinghamshire College is the leading provider of education and training in the North Nottinghamshire area and beyond, with 1300 full time and over 8,000 part time students. The College has a £15 million turnover and employs around 500 staff.
The College has invested millions of pounds on facilities and resources expanding and modernising the College to meet customers’ demands. These investments include:
- The National Fluid Power Centre, which is the UK’s leading centre for training and education for fluid power and motion control engineering. Supported by the British Fluid Power Association and its international company members, the centre has possibly the best practical facilities in Europe.
- The New Food Technology Centre gives students the opportunity of learning in an up-to-date realistic working environment, with state of the art facilities. It also houses the College Restaurant, which has a fine reputation for exceptional food, service and value for money.
- The Employment Skills Centre houses a one stop vocational training and guidance facility specially designed to provide local people with the ‘job readiness’ skills essential in the modern work place.
- Our Hair and Beauty salons have been totally refurbished with modern equipment in line with today’s salons, creating a realistic working environment in which to study.
- Workshops fitted with the latest plumbing and plastering equipment have been housed at Shireoaks Triangle Industrial Estate to provide students with the relevant skills and experience relied upon in the work place.
A purpose built Rural Learning Centre at Idle Valley in Retford providing a base for conservation and countryside education working jointly with the Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust.
- The local Post 16 Centres in Retford and Worksop. North Notts College is in partnership with local schools to help provide high quality education for A Levels and Vocational courses at these centres.
- The College is the lead and accountable body for Sure Start in West Bassetlaw and plays a key role in providing the learning opportunities to support this initiative. This involves working with Parents to improve children’s life changes through better access to family support, advice on parenting, health services, early learning and play.
The College has gained Centre of Vocational Excellence status in: Fluid Power, Food Technology and Logistics, Aviation in partnership with others.

We provide education and training opportunities for students from the age of 14 upwards, many students being adult learners. We have a wide variety of courses leading to nearly 350 different qualifications in almost 40 major subject areas, from Business Studies and Computing to Hair & Beauty and Nursing & Social Care. We also offer work based learning and apprenticeship courses.
The College delivers a full range of qualifications from Basic English and Maths to NVQs, City & Guilds, HNCs and HNDs plus a number of professional qualifications. Study options are flexible, with full time, part time, community based, distance learning, workshops and short courses available.
The College is a vibrant and friendly place to study with facilities including a Learning Resource Centre with computers, quiet study area and library, a Bistro for meals and snacks and an active Student Union. It houses its own Hair and Beauty Salon and has a first class restaurant for that special occasion. It has excellent parking facilities and good public transport links close at hand.

This is the College’s business division, which offers a wide range of in-company courses and services to employers. Courses can be tailored to meet the individual needs of the customer, providing the flexible approach necessary for today’s business. CREATE provides specialist training in a range of areas including:
