AMANDA NEILSON is currently employed in Dental Nursing at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. Amanda has qualifications in teaching and management. Her current role involves managing the Oral and Maxillofacial surgery department in a general hospital. Her role also involves lecturing and assessing trainee dental nurses to NVQ Level 3 at the Charles Clifford Dental Hospital, Sheffield. She developed the dental radiography teaching course for the Sheffield College in 1999. Amanda's previous posts have been at Sheffield University. She is also a past student of the college. Amanda was appointed in February 2004 and is now Vice Chair of the Corporation. She is also a member of the Search Committee.
ATHOLL STOTT is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development. An experienced senior executive with a depth of experience, in organisations ranging from FMCG, financial services and the voluntary sector to traditional unionised heavy industry. More recently he has been working on a number of Property Development projects in the East Midlands and Yorkshire. Atholl started his career with the National Coal Board in 1979 and progressed from the Coal face to Divisional HR Director. Before taking up a number Senior HR positions.
He has operated at board level with a number of organisations across the East Midland including the LSC, Lincolnshire Enterprise and Unique Social Enterprise.
He has been an E.M.D.A Business Champion for the past 8 years.
My name is Carrieann and I am on my first year of the BTEC National Diploma In ICT. This is my third year as a student at North Nottinghamshire College. A bit about me:- I am in a marching band, from Halifax, West Yorkshire. I am also involved in the Local Youth Assembly, which I have been a part of since 2006, but before this I was involved in the IMPS (a group for young people in Manton to voice their views and opinions about what they would like to see happen); because of this I have also represented the group on the Manton Community Alliance Board at meetings. When I have finished at College I would like to go on to University to study Forensic Computing.
DAVID PRESSLEY is a member of Bassetlaw District Council and Chairman of the Council's Planning Committee. David is also employed by Bassetlaw Citizens Advice Bureau as Welfare Rights Officer and is a Governor at a local junior school. Councillor Pressley was appointed to the Governing Body in February 2000.
DONNA NEEDHAM is a member of the Association of Chartered and Certified Accountants and is a Financial Controller for group of industrial companies based in the Rotherham area. Prior to this Donna held several senior posts for various Accountant companies. She has also been a Mentor in the Schools Mentoring programme. She was appointed in March 2004 and is a member of the Audit Committee.
JOHN CONNOLLY is Principal of North Nottinghamshire College. Previously the Deputy Chief Executive, John joined the College in January 1999 after spending the early part of his career in industry. With a background as a Finance Director in the construction and property industry, John has enjoyed various challenges since joining the College including leading on three new build projects, leading on the College's involvement in the Sure Start programme, and taking on the role of Risk Champion for the College. In more recent years, John has also become more involved in curriculum areas, particularly the Business Development Unit and the College's employer engagement activities. Outside of College John enjoys sport, fell walking and cycling.
JOHN SAVAGE is employed by the College as Director of the National Fluid Power Centre. He is Chairman of the British Fluid Power Association Education and Training Committee, a member of the BFPA Executive Group and a member of the Advisory Committee for Motion and Power Control at the University of Bath. He is also Vice President of the Steering Group for Fluid Power Education (CETOP) Europe. John has been involved with the college since 1962 and having obtained his qualifications as a Mining Mechanical Engineer, joined the Mining Engineering Dept in 1974 as Senior Lecturer in Thermodynamics. For the last 25 years John's involvement has been in serving the private sector in the business of Fluid Power and Motion control, developing professional partnerships with industry. John was instrumental in the NFPC becoming the first to achieve CoVE status for Fluid Power technology in the UK. John is a member of the Audit Committee.
JOHN SEPHTON is Regional Settlement Manager - Yorkshire and Humberside Prison Service, Wetherby. John joined the Prison service in 1982 and has held several senior management positions in prisons in recent years, responsible for the management of large teams and significant budgets. He has been employed in the criminal justice field specifically in education and training, working with the community and voluntary sector. He has recently completed a two year secondment with the Adult Learning Inspectorate (ALI), and has now returned to the Prison Service. John is Chairman to the Board of Governors.
JOHN SHEPHARD joined the college in 1989. He is the Section Head and Personal Tutor for Access to HE and also teaches on the HNC Business course. John holds a BA Hons Economic and Social History (University of Sheffield), PGCE (SHU) and MA in Education (OU). He is very active in the local community, being a member of Bassetlaw District Council representing Worksop South East (Manton) ward (previously Cabinet portfolio holder for Customer Services) and Carlton Parish Council. He is also a member of the Manton Pathfinder Board and an LEA governor at Manton Primary School. John was appointed to the Corporation in December 2005.
Katharine Body is employed by the College as a main grade English Lecturer. Katharine has a B.A. in Political Science with special interest in leadership and governance in NGO’s and NPO’s. She has a PGCE in Further Education and Training specialising in the delivery of English and History. Katharine is a member of the Institute for Learning as well as the South African Council of Educators. She has vast teaching experience over two continents both in private and government funded institutions and in a variety of subjects. She has a keen interest in law, especially Educational law as well as organisational policies and procedures.
KEITH McKOY is a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Development & Society Sheffield Hallam University. Keith holds a BA in Urban & Regional Studies (SHU) an MA in Policy and Social Studies (SHU) and PG Cert in Teaching and Learning (SHU). He is also currently registered as a Phd student within the Division of Applied Social Studies. Keith is a Member of the Chartered Institute of logistics and Transport. Keith has a background in local government and worked for Sheffield and Rotherham Councils prior to joining Sheffield Hallam over eight years ago. Keith teaches across a wide range of urban planning courses under-graduate and post-graduate level and is currently Course Leader for the MSc in Transport Planning & Management. Keith joined the Corporation in December 2007.
KEN GREEEN is currently the Works Director at Brunton Shaw Ltd, Worksop. He is a member of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers. Ken has experience in general and production management and has worked as General Manager at Marine Engineering in Hull prior to becoming Works Director at Brunton Shaw. He is also a past student of the college. Ken was appointed in 2004 and is a member of the Audit and Remuneration Committees.
LINDA COOMBES is currently Budget Manager at Holy Trinity Catholic School in Newark - where she is also a Eucharistic minister in the Parish. Linda has a BSc (Open) and holds qualifications in counselling, working for ISAS (Incest and Sexual Abuse Survivors) in North Notts. She is currently registered at York St John University studying part time for a BA in Theology and Ministry. Her other interests include walking and sailing. Linda was appointed in 2006.
MARTIN LLOYD is currently Company Secretary and Practice Manager of Maber Associates Ltd, a firm of Architects based in Nottingham. Martin is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and has also held the post of Finance and Resource Director for the Royal Society for Nature Conservation. Martin was appointed in 2001 and is Chair of the Audit and Remuneration Committees.
PIP BEASANT is employed by the College as the Co-ordinator of West Bassetlaw and Harworth and Bircotes Children’s Centres. She has a long history of employment with the College and also a depth of experience working with local authorities and organisations on regeneration projects, adult and basic education plus a vast knowledge of the pre-school sector. A member of the Institute for Learning, graduate of the National College of School Leadership, and a specialist in Adult Literacy, Pip has participated in the local development of Sure Start and the Children’s Centres since 2002, both as a Learning Co-ordinator and then as a Co-ordinator of Children’s Services in the areas served by West Bassetlaw and Harworth and Bircotes. She is a longstanding member of the Local Strategic Partnership’s Learning and Skills group and is well known for her partnership working across Bassetlaw.
RICKY LEE ROWLEY is currently studying a Hairdressing Level 2 course and a BELA (Basic Expedition Leadership Award). He enjoys making cocktails, mountaineering, and would like to join the Royal Navy when he has finished his college courses.
ROY HOLDEN has been a Director of Blyth Marble Ltd in Carlton in Lindrick for the past 16 years. Mr Holden holds qualifications in building engineering and was previously the proprietor of Cliffs of Nottingham. Prior to that his career included various engineering posts including Director of Royston Conpump Ltd, Director designate at Cable Lines Ltd, Engineer at Trent River Authority, Site Engineer at G Wimpey. Roy was appointed in 2004.
STEVE DARBY is a Director of Darbys Limited, Certified Accountants who have offices in Retford and Worksop. He is also a Registered Auditor and Accredited Business Navigator providing accountancy, audit and taxation services to local industry and business in the surrounding area. Former President of Notts, Lincs and Derbys Society of Chartered Certified Accountants, he is now Technical Liaison Officer. Steve was appointed in 1999 and has held the position of Chair of Governors from 2006 to 2008.
With a career spanning diverse industries (IT, Utilities, Not-for-Profit and consultancy) across two continents, Tabani’s career has seen him consolidate his expertise to focus on Corporate Governance and sustainability, skills that he has used to strengthen risk management, governance and accountability systems in the organisations that he has worked for. Tabani sits on various boards including Derby Homes Limited, where he chairs the Performance Management Committee; SOFA Reuse, where he is Vice Chair of the Board; North Notts Create Ltd; North Nottinghamshire College and ProAct Security Services, where he has held the position of Managing Director. Tabani is a Fellow of the Institute of Directors, (IOD) and is currently registered for a PhD researching the Corporate Governance of selected global financial institutions, particularly in the wake of the recent financial crisis.
Matthew Murphy is Clerk to the Corporation working independently of the College. Matthew is a Solicitor and Partner with Ilett and Clark Solicitors based in Worksop and specialises in business law. He holds various other offices locally and was the first solicitor nationally to be awarded the ICSA Certificate in Further Education Governance.
ALISON OAKS was appointed Deputy Clerk of North Nottinghamshire College on 1 April 2007. Previously PA to the Principal and Secretary to the Corporation, Alison joined the College in September 1994. Alison holds the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators Certificate in Further Education Governance and a Diploma in Administrative Management (IAM).
